“Geology is not just about studying rocks and minerals. For me, it allows us to peek into thousands, even millions of years, of Earth history,” said Dr. Hatta.

For example, did you know that the Peninsular Malaysia was once covered by the sea, dividing the East and West coasts? You cannot get to Ipoh and KL from Kuantan and KB without a boat!

This powerful tool of studying the past is what attracted me to study geology in the first place, and will continue to motivate me to share my passion with others, said this Petaling Jaya lad when met by @umresearch recently.

Drop him an email at hattageo87@um.edu.my if you would like to follow him on one of his field trips ya? Mana tahu jumpa tulang dinosaur!
