Respon kepada kes keracunan cendawan 8 beranak di Terengganu

Pada 10 November 2021, Pusat Penyelidikan Cendawan, Universiti Malaya telah menerima sampel cendawan dari kes keracunan cendawan yang berlaku di Terengganu, Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Dungun. Selepas pemeriksaan oleh pakar mikologi, Prof. Madya Dr. Tan Yee Shin, sampel tersebut dikenal pasti sebagai Chlorophyllum molybdites.
Untuk makluman semua, menurut PKD Dungun, keluarga tersebut mengumpul cendawan liar yang tumbuh di kawasan halaman rumah. Cendawan tumbuh selepas hujan. Cendawan yang dikumpul tersebut dicuci dan disimpan di dalam peti sejuk. Keesokan harinya ia digoreng dan dimakan sebagai makan tengah hari. Pada jam 3.00 petang, semua lapan ahli keluarga yang makan cendawan tersebut mengadu sakit perut, muntah dan cirit-birit.
Tiada insiden muntah darah seperti yang dilaporkan dalam banyak sumber media. Semua ahli keluarga telah pergi ke klinik kesihatan Paka dan kemudian dirujuk ke hospital Dungun. Mereka dimasukkan ke wad dan semuanya sudah pulih.
Chlorophyllum molybdites menyebabkan gejala gastrousus seperti muntah, cirit-birit, loya, pengapit perut. Keamatan keracunan berbeza dari individu ke individu, umur dan amaun cendawan yang dimakan.
Setakat ini, tiada kematian di dalam kes keracunan ini.

On the 10th of November 2021, Mushroom Research Centre, Universiti Malaya received a mushroom sample of a suspected mushroom poisoning case that happened in Terengganu from Dungun District Health Office. After a careful examination by our expert mycologist, A/P Dr Tan Yee Shin, the sample is identified as Chlorophyllum molybdites.
For everyone’s information, according to PKD Dungun, the family collected the wild mushrooms that grew in their yard area. Mushrooms grow after rain. The collected mushrooms were washed and stored in the refrigerator. The next day it was fried and eaten at lunch. At 3.00 pm, all eight who consumed the mushrooms complained of stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhoea.
There was, however, NO history of bleeding with vomiting as reported in the press. The family went to the health clinic Paka, and were then referred to Dungun hospital. They were admitted to the ward and everyone has recovered.
Chlorophyllum molybdites causes gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach clamps. The intensity of the poisoning varies from person to person, their age and the amount consumed .
So far, there is NO death caused by the ingestion of these mushrooms in this poisoning case.
