“My current interest is in environmental virology, where I study viruses that are in the water, air, or surfaces around us,” said this handsome Kelantanese when met recently in his Institute of Biological Sciences laboratory at Universiti Malaya.

Dr. Afiq added, “I love science since young, and having the opportunity to actually do something good for humanity using it is such a humbling honour.”

Part of his work is looking into the characteristics of SARS-CoV-2, hopefully finding better ways for us to live with the virus during the endemic phase.

Drop Dr. Afiq an email at afiqaziz@um.edu.my if you would like to get up close and personal with him, and discuss the finer art of environmental virology. Just don’t forget to bring his favourite cup of coffee (apparently Gigi Coffee we were told 😉).

No, he does not have an Instagram account. Sorry.
